Diamond Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedures in which the dead, outermost layer of your skin is partially or completely removed by light abrasion. It can be used to get rid of wrinkles and sun-damaged skin and to eliminate or lessen scars, stretch marks and dark spots. Our patients receive this noninvasive, nonsurgical treatment to make their skin look younger by carefully polishing away surface irregularities.
– Improve age spots and black heads.
– Improve hyperpigmentation (areas of darkened skin).
– Exfoliate your skin, giving a refreshed appearance.
– Lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
– Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
– Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores.
– Treat acne and the scars left by acne.
Microdermabrasion works by increasing you collagen, resulting in younger looking skin. Collagen is what keeps your skin smooth and tight. Collagen normally decreases with age, resulting in more loose and wrinkled skin.
Microdermabrasion can be used on the face, neck, chest, back and hands to diminish sun damage, wrinkles, enlarged pores and blemishes. The procedure is not painful and requires no anesthetic.
How Does Diamond Microdermabrasion Work?
At Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, our microdermabrasion experts start by thoroughly cleansing your face with antiseptic. Microdermabrasion tips covered in tiny diamonds are used to perform skin exfoliation to remove the outer layers of the skin. The ultimate effect improves facial contour by refreshing its appearance and texture.
Is Microdermabrasion Right For Me?
Diamond Microdermabrasion is not a cure for heavily damaged skin. However, our patients have used the procedure to successfully treat:
– Age spots
– Dark pigmentation
– Enlarged pores
– Small scars
– Sun-damaged skin
– Surface acne
Diamond Microdermabrasion can be used medically for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars. The procedure can also be used for treatment of acne, but must be repeated periodically to be effective. Microdermabrasion should not be used on patients who have taken the medication Accutane in the previous 12 months.
What Can I Expect After Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is often called a “lunchtime peel” because it requires little to no recovery time. The majority of microdermabrasion patients return to work and their normal activities immediately after the procedure. There can be some side effects, however, such as redness, which can last for a few hours. Your skin may also feel slightly sun or wind burnt.
The effects of microdermabrasion can usually be seen immediately. But we may recommend a series of four to six treatments, with healing time in between, to see optimal results. Your case will be different from anyone else’s, so it is important to follow our specialist’s advice. We will make sure you have clear instructions on how to care for your skin after microdermabrasion.
When it comes to microdermabrasion, there are many factors to consider. The staff at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine works hard to ensure that you have all of the details you need to make an informed decision.
