DESCRIPTION
Wrinkle Treatment - Adelaide
Wrinkles are creases, folds, or ridges in the skin. They normally appear as people get older.
The first wrinkles to appear on a person’s face tend to occur as a result of facial expressions.
Sun damage, smoking, dehydration, some medications, and environmental and genetic factors affect when and where people will develop wrinkles.
Most wrinkles tend to appear in the parts of the body which receive the most sun exposure, especially the face and neck, the back of the hands, and the arms.
NuEra Tight uses RF energy to gently heat the dermis. This heating effect invokes a healing response in the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, giving back your skin a youthful fullness and bounce. This is a more natural approach to skin smoothing than cosmetic injectables, as it uses the body's own healing response.
How it works
Wrinkle Treatment with the NuEra Tight by Lumenis
NuEra Tight (RF) treatment is a unique system offering a non-invasive wrinkle treatment. The treatment uses radio waves to tighten sagging skin, effectively reversing ageing skin, helping to make you look younger. The heat energy created by the radio waves warms the deeper layers of skin causing tissue contraction as well as stimulating new collagen production that will improve the appearance of the skin.
The NuEra Tight has inbuilt safety features so there is little to no risk of burns or other unwanted side effects. The treatment stimulates the body’s own healing mechanisms creating natural-looking results. Advanced Cosmetic Medicine is excited to offer this new treatment which offers an affordable, effective and non-surgical solution to correct sagging skin and unwanted wrinkles and fine lines.
Many of our customers do not feel comfortable with cosmetic injectables as a solution for fine lines and wrinkles. NuEra Tight offers these customers an alternative treatment. Best of all it is non-invasive and has no downtime……no more bruising or complications caused by cosmetic injectables.
Who is a Good Candidate for RF Treatments ?
RF treatment is suitable for anyone that has crepey skin with fine lines and wrinkles. It is suitable and safe for all skin types. If you are over the age of 18 and looking to have a firmer more youthful appearing skin, this treatment may well be the best treatment for you. Even young people in their mid to late twenties are having RF skin tightening treatments as a preventative measure to maintain their youthful appearance.
The areas that can be treated by NuEra Tight include; face, crows feet, smile lines, forehead lines and any area that has wrinkles. Clients should have realistic expectations and realise that it takes up to four weeks post each treatment for new collagen growth to occur. Most clients are very satisfied with the results. After the first treatment, you should notice that your skin feels tighter and smoother. Although the results cannot be compared with a facelift, it is often recommended as an alternative for those that do not want surgery and the lengthy recovery period that follows.
Dr Targett will evaluate your skin and determine your goals to help you decide if RF treatment is right for you.
How Does RF Wrinkle Treatment Work?
The depth of treatment can be targeted by selecting the desired radiofrequency. The device heats up the deeper layers of the dermis without damaging the epidermis or surface layer of the skin. Several weeks after the wrinkle treatment your skin will begin to produce new collagen. You will experience a new quality to your skin which will feel firmer, fuller and tighter.
What Areas Can Be Treated by NuEra Tight?
- Sagging skin under chin
- Nasolabial folds
- Crow’s Feet
- Lines under the eyes and eye bags
- Lip lines and smile lines
- Lines or folds between the eyebrows (11’s)
- Forehead lines
- Loose or crepey skin anywhere on the body
What to Expect Before, During and After the Treatment?
Before the procedure starts, the doctor or technician will apply a cool gel to the face to help protect the superficial epidermis during the procedure. A handpiece that delivers the RF radio waves is moved over the skin’s surface to target the areas of concern to tighten the skin. The treatment is customized to each individual’s skin concerns.
During the wrinkle treatment, you will experience a deep and mild warming experience. Some people liken it to a hot rock massage. No anaesthesia is required prior to the treatment. Depending on the size of the area to be treated, each treatment usually takes from between 10 to 60 minutes to complete. No downtime is required after the treatment and patients can resume their normal activities. You may experience some redness and mild swelling which should disappear after 2 to 24 hours after your wrinkle treatment.
What Results Can I Expect?
Patients will experience fuller and tighter appearing skin. Fine lines and wrinkles will be significantly reduced or eliminated altogether.
The effects will be gradual over the next few months following the treatment. This is because it takes time for new collagen to laid down. Collagen is continually being diminished in the skin as we age. For this reason treatments, every six months are recommended to maintain results. Dr Targett will be able to recommend how many treatments will initially be required and how often treatments should be performed. Depending on the condition of your skin this will may vary for each individual.
The effects of radiofrequency treatments will continue to improve over the next few months as the skin produces new collagen. Results typically last for a minimum of six months, although with ongoing treatments, results are often long-lasting. Your doctor will determine how many treatments are needed and how often the treatments should be performed for each individual patient after a thorough evaluation of their skin condition.
Safety
RF treatments are safe on all skin types.
The Nu Era Tight has an inbuilt safety feature that monitors the temperature of your skin. This will prevent the chance of burns occurring due to operator error.
You should not undergo RF treatment if you have a pacemaker, defibrillator or any metal implants.
What other options do ACM have for skin smoothing?
ACM are now offering the all new Ultraformer III HIFU treatment. This machine uses high intensity ultrasound to deliver heat energy to the skin.

Facial lines and wrinkles (rhytides) form because of the following factors:
- Ageing processes
- Sun damage
- Muscle movement
- Gravity
- Injury
- Surgery
- Acne
- Smoking
There is often a degree of asymmetry to the lines, as people tend to smile or frown more on one side than the other, or consistently sleep on the right or the left cheek.
Fine lines
Fine lines and wrinkles arise because of irregular thickening of the dermis and because of a decrease in the amount of water held by the epidermis. This is mainly caused by sun damage and exposure to environmental toxins particularly tobacco smoke.
Furrows
Deeper lines or furrows are classified as dynamic or static. Dynamic lines appear with movement i.e. the activity of facial muscles. Static lines are unchanged with muscle movement. Eventually, dynamic lines become static.
Crow’s feet around the eyes are due to smiling and activity of the eyelid muscles (orbicularis oculi).
Worry lines on the forehead are due to contraction of the frontalis muscle when raising the eyebrows
Frown lines between the eyebrows are due to contraction of corrugator supercilii muscles and procerus muscle when concentrating or angry
Skin laxity or drooping is caused by several factors:
- A reduction of the fat cells under the skin (subcutaneous tissue)
- Loss of collagen and elastin fibres in the dermis reducing cutaneous strength and elasticity
- Gravity, which allows the lax tissue to sag
The result is:
- Brow ptosis (the forehead sags so the eyebrows drop over the eyelids, which then feel heavy)
- Eyelid ptosis (the upper eyelid drops, sometimes obscuring the pupil)
Baggy upper and lower eyelids - Sagging lower eyelids, revealing the reddened mucosal surface (ectropion)
- Hollow look to the eyes
- Tired-looking eyes with a prominent groove beside the nose (tear-trough deformity)
- Jowls (loss of jaw line)
- Loss of neckline
- Elongated earlobes
- Drooping of the tip of the nose
- Thinning of the upper lip
