How it works
What are bio stimulation dermal fillers made from?
Bio stimulation dermal fillers are made from very small calcium based microspheres which are suspended in a water based gel substance. Allergy to these microspheres is not a problem because they are made from similar minerals that are found naturally in the body. It is not necessary to perform allergy testing before administering this product. The microspheres and gel and absorbed naturally over time by the body, leaving behind only natural collagen.
Why do I need bio stimulation dermal fillers?
The ageing process is affected by many different factors. Factors such as genetics, lifestyle including smoking, diet, and sun exposure all determine how quickly you will age.

What happens during the procedure?
You will usually meet with Dr Targett prior to the procedure for her to discuss with you your suitability for bio stimulation dermal fillers and to discuss the look you are trying to achieve and formulate a treatment plan.
On the day of the procedure, you will be required to sign a consent form detailing any risks no matter how small, associated with the procedure. The first step is to thoroughly cleanse your face. An anaesthetic cream will then be applied to help ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as it possibly can be for you. Dr Targett will then perform the dermal filler injections according to the treatment plan and the desired look that you are trying to achieve. This process usually takes around thirty minutes. You will be asked to come in two weeks after your treatment for Dr Targett to assess the success of the treatment and to make any adjustments if required.

Bio stimulation dermal fillers offer a natural and gradual result over time, with collagen production taking roughly 8-12 weeks to fully stimulate—the results of the treatment peak at around six to eight months post-treatment. How long the final outcome lasts will depend on the number of treatments patients undergo. Generally, an entire course of treatments will prolong results to last between 24-36 months.
Immediately following the bio stimulation dermal fillers treatment, you may experience some mild bruising, tenderness, and discomfort around the injection sites, which may take up to three days to dissipate. A cold compress and paracetamol can help mitigate these symptoms. Some individuals may also experience redness, swelling, itching, and numbness, which will dissipate along with other symptoms in a few days.
We advise patients to avoid taking blood-thinning medications and consuming excessive alcohol before and after their treatment for a short period. Post-treatment aftercare instructions also include avoiding prolonged sun exposure, strenuous activity, and wearing makeup for 24 hours. Firmly massaging the treatment area for a few minutes, five times per day for five days following the treatment, is also strongly recommended. This will minimise the chance of adverse effects occurring, such as lumps and bumps, helping to distribute the filler evenly.
Most individuals are suitable to receive bio stimulation dermal fillers. However, there are some individuals we do not recommend for this treatment, including people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken a course of acne medication in the last three months, have a history of auto-immune diseases, or have a history of severe allergic reactions.
There are very minimal risks associated with this treatment, but no cosmetic treatment is without the potential for complications or risks to occur. Rare side effects of bio stimulation dermal fillers include blistering, infection, cold sores, allergic reactions, lumpy tissue, and skin necrosis. An in-depth consultation and following your aftercare instructions is crucial to mitigating the potential for more severe risks to occur.
