Hiding beneath the top layers of dead skin, you will find a beautiful complexion that is smoother, brighter and more refined, just waiting to show itself.  Chemical peels are the answer when it comes to revealing this inner skin beauty.  If your concern should be clearing up acne breakout, reducing hyper-pigmentation caused by sun damage or reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles then skin peels are also what you are looking for.

The Benefits

The peel helps improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of skin aging, promoting a more youthful complexion.

2. Improved skin texture and smoothness:

The peel exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and stimulating cellular turnover, resulting in a smoother and more even skin texture.

3.Reduction of acne and pigment spots:

The peel targets acne-prone skin and helps reduce the appearance of acne blemishes, as well as hyperpigmentation and sunspots, promoting a clearer and more even complexion.

6. Minimal social downtime:

While the peel may cause some temporary redness and flaking, the downtime is generally minimal, allowing individuals to resume their regular activities relatively quickly.

How it works

What is a Chemical Peel And Why Should I Get One?

Chemical skin peels use enzymes and acids to remove the dead top layer of skin, to reveal a more youthful, clearer and fresher appearing skin. Basically, a chemical peel exfoliates the top layers of your skin.  Instead of using a harsh scrub or dermabrasion, different types of chemical ingredients are used to remove the layers of dead skin.  Apart from curing your skin blemish issues, chemical peels will also allow the skin care products that you use to be absorbed more effectively.

It is a very popular treatment that is used all over the world and helps to treat wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage.  Why not come and try chemical peel and see how life-transforming the results can be for you?

What Can a Chemical Peel Do to Help My Skin?

  • Even skin texture and tone.
  • Revive dull looking skin.
  • Rejuvenate and brighten the skin
  • Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
  • Soften and smooth the skin.
  • Reduce the effects of sun damage and eliminate/ reduce skin pigmentation.
  • Help to alleviate acne breakouts and reduce inflammation.
  • Stimulate the production of collagen, creating a plump, youthful appearing skin.

What Does The Skin Peel Procedure Involve?

At Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, your skincare expert will prepare your skin, so there is a smooth base ready for the peel.  After the peel has been applied, you may notice a tightening and tingling sensation.  Different skin types, will, of course, react differently.  Depending on which skin peel formula you have chosen, the chemical may be left on for a few hours to neutralize or may only be left on for a few minutes. The manufacturer’s instructions are followed for each peel brand.  The doctor will look for the endpoint where frosting of the skin is visible.

Are There Any Side Effects to Dermaceutic Cosmo Chemical Peels?

While the Dermaceutic Cosmo Peel is generally safe and well-tolerated, there are potential side effects that can occur. It's important to be aware of these side effects and discuss them with a skincare professional before undergoing the treatment. Some possible side effects of the Cosmo Peel include:

  1. Redness: After the peel, you may experience temporary redness on the treated skin, which can last for a few hours or a couple of days.
  2. Peeling and flaking: As the peel works to exfoliate the skin, you may notice peeling and flaking in the treated areas. This is a normal part of the skin renewal process and typically resolves within a week.
  3. Dryness and tightness: The peel may temporarily cause dryness and a feeling of tightness in the treated skin. It is important to keep the skin moisturized during the recovery period.
  4. Sensitivity: Your skin may become more sensitive following the peel, making it more prone to irritation from external factors like sun exposure. It is crucial to protect your skin with sunscreen and avoid excessive sun exposure.
  5. Pigmentation changes: In some cases, there may be temporary changes in skin pigmentation, such as darkening or lightening of the treated areas. These changes are usually temporary and fade over time.

It is important to closely follow the aftercare instructions provided by your skincare professional to minimize the risk of complications and ensure optimal healing. If you experience any severe or prolonged side effects, it is recommended to consult with your skincare professional for further guidance and support.

Is there possibility of scarring when having a Como Peel?

One potential side effect of the Dermaceutic Cosmo Peel is the risk of scarring. While the peel is generally safe when performed by a qualified professional, improper application or insufficient aftercare can increase the likelihood of scarring.

It is crucial to follow the post-peel instructions provided by your skincare professional to minimize this risk.

What Is a Skin Peel For Acne?

Chemical peels are recommended when topical acne medication available from the pharmacy does not produce the desired results. A chemical peel will result in a clearer complexion free from active acne as well as improving the appearance of acne scars.

A chemical peel as the name suggests involves applying a chemical solution to the skin surface.  This will cause the skin to peel and blister over several days.  Fresh new skin will be revealed once the dead skin has peeled off. Additionally, a skin peels will reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and scars associated with acne.  Besides helping to eliminate active acne, an acne peel can make the skin appear smoother and help remove any pigmentation.

Why Are Chemical Peels a Good Treatment For Acne?

Most people do not know that chemical peels can not only treat acne scars but also treat active acne. Additionally, they can treat clogged pores, hyperpigmentation, inflamed breakouts, and mild scarring.

According to Dr Targett, “Chemical peels for acne are an excellent treatment for renewing the outer layer of the skin.  Chemical peels help to keep the pores clear by removing the dead skin cells.  Once the pores are clear, oil from sebaceous glands, as well as bacteria causing acne, are free to flow to the surface of the skin instead of causing an infection beneath the skin.”

Modern chemical peels are much milder than they once were.  You should not have to endure days of hiding away with red flaking skin.

By treating acne with chemical peels you can prevent the formation of acne scars as well as having clean, fresh, and acne free skin.

What Chemicals Are Used In a Chemical Peel For Acne?

There are basically three categories of chemicals peels that are used to treat acne. These are; AHA peels(alpha hydroxy acid), TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid) and Phenol Peels. AHA peels are the most gentle peels, TCA peels are a little stronger and Phenol peels are the strongest type of peel.  AHA peels are mild and used for the treatment of active acne.  TCA peels and Phenol peels are used for acne scars and are much more severe in action and require a longer recovery period.

There is no recovery time necessary, and patients can return home or work immediately after the injection process. There are no specific aftercare instructions and no downtime.

Within about a week, the muscle relaxant will have taken full effect, blocking signals to the sweat glands. You should see a noticeable reduction in sweat by this time. Patients should note that it is common to experience a substantial reduction, rather than complete elimination, of sweating.

The results of this treatment last for 6-8 months. Many patients return for repeat injections in order to maintain its effects.

What Can I Expect After Having A Chemical Peel For Acne?

The recovery period for a chemical peel for acne will depend on the type of chemical peel used.  For active acne, an AHA peel will usually be used.  After effects of an AHA peel include, redness, flaking skin, dryness.  These effects are usually very mild and you will be able to return to normal activities straight away without any downtime.
