How it works

What is a Venus Viva MD Skin Resurfacing?

rf skin resurfacing

Venus Viva™ is a non-surgical solution for skin resurfacing. It corrects signs of skin damage and improves the appearance of acne scars and other scars, rosacea, enlarged pores, deep wrinkles, and uneven skin texture and pigmentation.

Advanced Cosmetic Medicine recommends Venus Viva MD for those that are seeking a more natural approach to skin rejuvenation.

How does Venus Viva compare with other technologies?

In the realm of skin resurfacing, CO2 lasers were once considered the standard choice. However, these procedures often involved significant pain and extended downtime of several weeks or even longer, as they essentially remove the top layer of skin.

Venus Viva™ skin resurfacing treatments offer comparable results but with considerably less discomfort and downtime.

Unlike lasers that are limited to fair complexions, Venus Viva™ treatments are safe for all skin tones. Moreover, you can expect superior outcomes compared to treatments like chemical peels, which have been associated with various complications.

Experience the benefits of Venus Viva™ at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine and achieve remarkable skin rejuvenation without the drawbacks of traditional methods. Contact us today to learn more and schedule a consultation.

What does Venus Viva Treatment involve?

  • A Venus Viva treatment typically involves the following steps:
    1. Consultation: The first step is to schedule a consultation with a qualified practitioner at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine. During this consultation, your skin concerns and goals will be discussed, and the practitioner will assess your suitability for Venus Viva treatment.
    2. Preparation: Before the treatment, your skin will be cleansed to remove any makeup, oils, or impurities. The practitioner may also apply a numbing cream to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.
    3. Treatment: The Venus Viva device, which utilizes radiofrequency technology, will be carefully applied to the treatment area. The device emits controlled heat energy into the skin, creating tiny micro-dermal wounds. This stimulates the body's natural healing response and promotes collagen production for skin rejuvenation.
    4. Adjustments: The practitioner will adjust the intensity and depth of the treatment based on your specific needs and desired outcomes. They will carefully maneuver the device across the skin, targeting problem areas such as wrinkles, scars, or pigmentation irregularities.
    5. Sensations: During the treatment, you may experience a warm sensation on your skin. Some individuals may also feel a mild prickling or tingling sensation, but it is generally well-tolerated.
    6. Duration: The duration of the treatment session can vary depending on the size and number of areas being treated. Typically, a session takes approximately 30 minutes to one hour.
    7. Post-Treatment Care: After the treatment, your skin may appear slightly red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. The practitioner will provide specific post-treatment instructions, which may include avoiding direct sunlight, using gentle skincare products, and applying soothing creams or serums to aid in the healing process.
    8. Follow-up Sessions: Depending on your individual needs and goals, multiple Venus Viva sessions may be recommended. These sessions are usually spaced several weeks apart to allow for optimal results and skin recovery.

How does Venus Viva work?

Venus Viva works through a series of steps to achieve its skin rejuvenation effects:

  1. Safe for all skin types: Venus Viva is suitable for individuals with various skin types and tones.
  2. RF energy penetration: The treatment delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy into the skin through tiny columns.
  3. Ablation and coagulation: The RF energy causes controlled ablation (removal) and coagulation (heating) of the targeted areas of the skin.
  4. Stimulation of fibroblasts: The energy stimulates fibroblasts, which are cells responsible for collagen production.
  5. Collagen synthesis: The stimulated fibroblasts produce new collagen, leading to tighter and more compact skin.
  6. Healing and regeneration: The ablated zones undergo a healing process, and new cells generated from stem cells in the healthy surrounding tissue fill in the treated areas.
  7. Fractional Skin Resurfacing: Venus Viva employs a fractional approach, treating only a fraction of the skin's surface. This allows for faster healing compared to treating the entire area.
  8. Smoothing and tightening effect: The treatment creates a smoothing and tightening effect on the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin.
  9. Plumping effect: Venus Viva also provides a plumping effect at the dermis level, which is the deeper layer of the skin.

What conditions can Venus Viva Treat?

Venus Viva is a versatile treatment that can address various skin concerns. It is effective in treating conditions such as skin laxity, wrinkles, fine lines, and rhytides (skin creases or folds).

Additionally, it can improve overall skin texture, including reducing the appearance of acne scars and other types of scars.

Venus Viva can also be used to target melasma, a common pigmentation disorder, as well as striae (stretch marks).

Another benefit of Venus Viva is its ability to minimize enlarged pores and provide a non-surgical alternative to blepharoplasty, a procedure that addresses sagging eyelids.

With its broad range of applications, Venus Viva offers a comprehensive solution for individuals seeking to improve their skin's appearance and address various skin concerns.

What to Expect During a Venus Viva Treatment?

Upon arrival you will be greeted by our friendly staff and asked to complete our consent form for the procedure.

Dr Targett will then perform a consultation with you to determine your medical history and suitability for the treatment. Dr Targett will establish what you aesthetic goals are and explain how the treatment and other treatments may help you to reach those goals.

Before the treatment begins Dr targett will explain what the treatment involves and obtain your informed consent.

Before the treatment begins a topical anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment area.  This usually takes around twenty minutes to take effect.

We will then use a special applicator hand piece to deliver the radio frequency (RF) bursts to the treatment area. The procedure takes about fifteen to twenty minutes, depending on the total area treated. You’ll feel a slight warmth and pinprick sensations. Due to the topical anaesthesia the pain should be very minimal.

What will I look like after having Venus Viva?

After undergoing Venus Viva treatment, you can expect noticeable improvements in your skin's appearance. Immediately following the procedure, you may experience some redness and mild swelling, which are temporary and typically subside within a few hours to a day. Your skin may also feel warm or have a mild sunburn-like sensation, but this will dissipate quickly.

Over the next few days, you may notice some dryness and flaking as the treated skin undergoes the natural healing process. This is a normal part of the rejuvenation process and will reveal fresher, smoother skin underneath. It is important to keep your skin hydrated and protected during this time by following the post-treatment care instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

As the weeks go by, you will gradually see improvements in your skin's texture, tone, and overall appearance. Venus Viva stimulates collagen production, which helps to tighten and firm the skin, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, and improve skin laxity. The results are natural-looking and can enhance your overall complexion, giving you a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

It is important to note that individual results may vary, and multiple treatment sessions may be recommended for optimal results

What is the aftercare for Venus Viva MD?

Aftercare following Venus Viva treatment is essential to promote proper healing and maximize the results. Here are some general guidelines to follow:

  1. Keep the treated area clean: Gently cleanse the skin with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid using harsh or exfoliating products that may irritate the skin.
  2. Moisturize regularly: Apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and prevent dryness. Avoid heavy or greasy moisturizers that may clog the pores.
  3. Protect your skin: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays. Sunscreen should be applied every day, even if you are indoors, as UV rays can still penetrate through windows.
  4. Avoid excessive heat and sweating: For the first few days following the treatment, avoid activities that can cause excessive sweating or expose the skin to high heat, such as hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts.
  5. Avoid picking or scratching: It is important not to pick at any scabs or flaking skin that may occur as part of the healing process. Let the skin naturally exfoliate and avoid any aggressive manipulation.
  6. Follow post-treatment instructions: Your healthcare provider will provide you with specific aftercare instructions tailored to your needs. It is crucial to follow these instructions closely to ensure optimal healing and results.
  7. Attend follow-up appointments: Schedule and attend any recommended follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider. These appointments allow for the evaluation of your progress and may include additional treatments or adjustments if needed.
